Ralph Notch, 82, of Eagle Bend, passed away on November 24, 2017, in Fargo, ND. Funeral services for Ralph will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017, 11:00 a.m., at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Clarissa with Fr. Mitchell Bechtold officiating. Friends may begin calling on Friday, December 1, 2017, 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Clarissa and on the day of the funeral one hour prior to the service. Rosary will be held at 4:45 p.m. Interment will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Clarissa.
Ralph was born on December 21, 1934, in New Munich, to Al and Clara (Tabatt) Notch. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1953 and was honorably discharged in 1957. Ralph married Janice Shilka on January 15, 1955, in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Ralph purchased his parents farm and moved his family back to Minnesota. He later sold the farm but his love for farming stayed. This was evident in the amount of auctioned farm equipment he amassed over the years. Ralph worked a variety of jobs over his lifetime. The latest being the Lead Robotics Technician at IWCO, from which he retired at the age of 74. Ralph was known as a “Jack of All Trades” and liked to jokingly state that he came from a long line of inventors. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the American Legion.
Ralph is preceded in death by his parents; sons: James and William, Grandson Cory Probst, and brothers Richard and Donald.
Ralph is survived by his wife Janice; children: Ralph Notch of Mogadore, OH, Teresa Dukowitz of Andover MN, Jane Notch-Johnson of Lewisville, KY, JoAnne (Jeff) King of Fort Ripley MN, Timothy (Sharon) Notch of Eagle Bend, Joseph (Nicole) Notch of Toledo WA , Robert (Karen) Notch of Boston, MA, Christopher (Tammy) Notch of Carlos; 20 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; siblings: Albert (Marlys) Notch of Eagle Bend, Herbert Notch of Des Moines, IA, Doris (Edward) Pachan of Eagle Bend, Dorene (Lawrence) Lenk of Hoyt Lakes, Bernice (Edward) Polak of Browerville, Mary Alice (Vincent) Lenk of Clear Lake and Alvin (Diane) Notch of Eagle Bend.
