Jack Allander, age 76, passed away in the early morning hours of August 6th at his home in Peoria, Arizona, with his wife Cheryl by his side.
Jack was born in San Francisco to Richard Allander and Grace McVey on April 29, 1942. Jack was a proud graduate of Balboa High School in San Francisco. Jack was an Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War from April 1964 to April 1966.
Jack married Cheryl Allander on August 10th, 1986 in South San Francisco, California. Jack spent 37 years at Pacific Bell before retiring and moving with Cheryl to Peoria, Arizona. In retirement, Jack worked as a school crossing guard and quickly became friends with all the neighborhood kids.
Jack and Cheryl enjoyed traveling in retirement with trips to Europe and several cruises in various parts of the world with their good friends Rich and Dee Williams.
Jack was a true Scotsman, enjoying many Highland games and Scottish festivals with his nephews. Jack was a 25+ year 49er season ticket holder, but most enjoyed watching DJ’s high school football games and his practices. Over the years, Jack and DJ also enjoyed many road trip adventures to various college football bowl games.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents and sister Elizabeth “Kay” Christopher, as well as his cherished dogs Whitney, Justice, and Charlie.
Jack will be greatly missed by his wife and the love of his life Cheryl; their dog Abby; his stepson DJ Wozniak (Bernadette); Aunt Margie Cooke; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins in California, Colorado, and beyond.
